Description |
When we were in the camp up at Muskwa-Kechika,it rained every day. I should also mention, that the sun shone every day. From the alpine plateau,we watched clouds dash in and out among the peaks over the valleys below. Every minute they were doing something different. Sometimes they would gather together and gang up on one particular valley; but then they would fall apart, and each fragment would spin across the span of valleys and peaks, dropping a little spray of mist, or a rainbow, or both, but never staying in any one place forever. It was a great honour to view the weather in action. The weather is a manifestation of nature, known by many names: The Great Creator, Mother Nature, or the divine exercise of Chaos Theory in the Science of Physics. The clouds were always in motion, and while we could predict that it would either rain or be sunny over us every day, we could never predict exactly when, or for how long. “Nature” nature and human nature share this unpredictability; it might be easy to predict the movement of human mobs when they are motivated by fear; but it is impossible to predict the actions of any individual human being, despite the efforts of those who try to constrain human nature. Perhaps this should give us hope, in that however our delicate various human political situations are on this planet, we can always be certain that someday there will be change in the weather. |
