1917 and served as one of the early presidents of the branch and also as i t s secretary taking an active part i n the i n s t i t u t e work of her community u n t i l the family moved to Armstrong, B. C. She i s the mother of f i v e children. There are: sixteen grandchildren and f i v e great grandchildren. Her hobbies include handicrafts of many kinds, srch as k n i t t i n g , crocheting, rug making, etc. She takes great pride i n her flower garden and keeps up her interest In reading. Of the f i f t e e n charter members of G r i f f i n Creek who joined at the organization meeting only Mrs. G r i f f i n kept up her membershin. In the early days when transportation was a problem she would drive around with her car to pick up the members and i n winter would make the long drive with a team and sleigh. Of her L i f e Membership she says: " G r i f f i n Creek made me a L i f e Member of the Alberta Women's I n s t i t u t es i n October 1954 f o r which I am very thankful. A l though I l i v e i n the sunny Okanogan I am s t i l l interested i n the success of the Alberta Women's I n s t i t u t e s ."
