MRS.. LAWRENCE ELQFSON
Dora Elofson, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Warren Smith, was born i n
Conneaut Lake, Pennsylvania on J u l y 3. I 8 9 8 , the seventh of twelve
c h i l d r e n . In I 9 I I she came by t r a i n to Ponoka, Alberta with her Mother,
brothers and s i s t e r s to j o i n her f a t h e r who had taken up land i n the
Ferrybank d i s t r i c t.
On her nineteenth birthday, July 3 » I9I7 » Dora married Lawerence
E l o f s o n of the a d j o i n i n g Sharphead d i s t r i c t . To t h i s union were born
three c h i l d r e n , Laurine, Verna and S t a n l e y , a l l of whom have married
so that Dora now has t e n grandchildren and f i f t e e n great- grandchildren.
Dora's husband passed away i n 19^ 9 and i n I95Ii when Stanley married
and took over the farm, she moved i n t o the town of Ponoka where she
s t i l l resides.
