MRS. V. G. SCHEIDEGGER
Helen Maitland was born i n Aberdeenshire, Scotland
i n 1896 and came to Canada i n 1910 where her family farmed
i n the Province of Quebec. There Helen learned the trade
of dressmaking, working at this u n t i l she came west i n the
spring of 1918 to Ohaton, Alberta. She clerked i n the
Ohaton store u n t i l her marriage to Walter Scheidegger 1920.
She joined the Ohaton W. I. i n March of 1920 while she
was s t i l l Helen Maitland. Since that time she has been a
member of the same branch except for a period when her c h i l dren
were small and needed her attention. One of her sons,
Roy, was crippled by polio and required constant care.
