DOROTHY WILLIAMS
Dorothy Williams was born i n the Steveville area to pioneer parents,
Bert and Ida Coultis. She received her schooling i n one room school houses
in the Steveville, Wardlow, Cessford areas and completed her grade twelve i n
Medicine Hat.
In December of 1949 she and Douglas Williams of Cessford were married.
They started their married l i f e looking after the home place while Doug's
parents spent the winter i n warmer climes. In the spring they set about to
renovate an old house to the west. They cleaned and scrubbed and before long
were i n their owr. home. This was i n the days of no power, no fridge and no
telephone. Their f i r s t son, Ronald, was born i n 1951, followed by Richard i n
1953. In 1954 their f i r s t daughter, Pam, was born and i n 1955 another son
Mark came to join the family. Second daughter Shirley arrived i n 1957, Bernard
was born i n 1959 and Wade i n 1960. A l l the family received their complete grade I twelve at New Cessford Consolidated School.
