a s s i s t e d with the outside chores. I t was the time of pioneer days
when there was no e l e c t r i c i t y or running water on the farm. She
would take her son to the barn i n an apple box when she helped with
m i l k i n g the cows by l a n t e r n l i g h t . She fed and packed water to a
bunch of p i g s . E t t a a s s i s t e d with stooking g r a i n at harvest time. She
r a i s e d a f l o c k of chickens and turkeys and cleaned them ready f or
s a l e . L i f e wasn't easy f o r her e s p e c i a l l y so with none of the conveniences
that we have to- day.
E t t a taught Sunday School at the United Missionary Church and i s
a f a i t h f u l church attender and i s ever w i l l i n g to a s s i s t whenever
needed both w i t h i n her church and her community. She and her husband
were caretakers f o r the Community H a l l f o r many years. Etta canvassed
f o r Cancer and the Easter Seal Campaign. She spends many hours helping
her f r i e n d s and d r i v i n g them wherever they wish to go.
Her home and her family were her f i r s t concern. Though her husband
passed away two years ago she has maintained her cheerful a t t i
t u d e , never f e e l i n g sorry f o r h e r s e l f . E t t a i s of high moral charact
- er and i s a very modest and humble person beloved by everyone who
knows her.
For a l l her s t e r l i n g q u a l i t i e s and i n r e c o g n i t i o n of her work
w i t h i n the community as w e l l as her dedication to the I n s t i t u t e the
" Mountain View W. I." presented with a L i f e Membership to the " Alberta
Women's I n s t i t u t e s ".
