Mrs. Dingwall joined the Sylvan Lake V/ omen's
I n s t i t u t e on November 2, 1925 at i t s o r g a n i z a t i o n meeting
and she has been a valued member ever since. She has held
various o f f i c e s i n her branch. During her term of o f f i ce
as President i n 1928 the f i r s t p i e r , known as the ¥. 1. Pier,
was b u i l t with the o f f i c i a l Opening being f o r m a l l y conducted
by the Honorable R. B. Bennett, then Prime M i n i s t e r of Canada.
She was also instrumental i n the purchasing of a
b u i l d i n g to be known as the V/ omen's I n s t i t u t e H a l l which
has continued to he i n use ever s i n c e.
Mrs. Dingwall has been a member and a c t i v e worker of
Memorial P r e s b y t e r i a n Church since i t s i n c e p t i o n and was
instrumental i n g e t t i n g the Sunday School H a l l e s t a b l i s h e d.
At present she i s r e t i r e d , age 82, but s t i l l , takes an a c t i ve
and keen i n t e r e s t i n everything.
On March 9> 1959> the Sylvan Lake V/ omen's I n s t i t u te
presented her w i t h a L i f e Membership pin and C e r t i f i c a t e.
The pin was presented by the Constituency Convener of Red
Deer West Constituency, Mrs. W i l l i a m Broderson of Rimbey,
and the c e r t i f i c a t e was handed to her by the President, Mrs.
A. Rittenhouse, f o r a l l . h e r valued e f f o r t s i n the Sylvan
Lake I n s t i t u t e.
Her hobby has always been making her home a f r i e n d ly
place f o r neighbors and f r i e n d s to meet.
