During her i n s t i t u t e years she organized three branches i n the
Warner Constituency: Writing- On- Stone, Old Chief and H i l l v i e w .
S i t u a t e d at the I n t e r n a t i o n a l Boundary L i n e , Mrs. Ford has been
very aware o f the p o s s i b i l i t i e s f o r I n t e r n a t i o n a l Friendships
and i t was l a r g e l y due t o h e r e f f o r t s as e a r l y as 1953 that the
foundation was l a i d f o r meetings between the women o f D i s t r i c t
4 and the Montana Home Demonstration Clubs.
In 1953 Mrs. Ford represented the A l b e r t a Women's Insti
t u t e s at the f i r s t Regional Convention of Indian Homemakers
to he held i n A l b e r t a . This was at the B l a c k f o o t Reserve a t
G- leichen. Since then she has supported the work of the i n t e g
r a t i o n of the two o r g a n i z a t i o n s : The Homemakers and the Women's
I n s t i t u t e s and has been a l o y a l champion o f the ' F i r s t Canadians.
I t was i n 1955 that Mrs. Ford undertook t o compile the r e c o r d o f
the Book o f L i f e Members and b r i n g a l l past records up t o date.
I t has been a very rewarding work. She served as P r o v i n c i al
Convener o f C i t i z e n s h i p i n 1958- 1959 due t o the r e s i g n a t i o n o f
the former o f f i c e r.
One of the h i g h l i g h t s of her I n s t i t u t e years has been the
achievement of her home branch, Sunshine W. I., i n winning the
f i r s t Tweedsmuir Cup to come t o A l b e r t a . This trophy was presented
t o Mrs. Ford at the N a t i o n a l Convention i n Ottawa i n 1957
