MRS. CHARLES E . KIMMETT
Mrs. Charles E. Kimmett was horn Zola May McConnell May
7, 1893 at Alma, Colorado, to W i l l i a m Henry McConnell and Emma
May Lightburn. She i s of S c o t c h - I r i s h descent.
She attended Cripple Creek, Independence, H i l l r o s e and
Henderson schools, a l l i n Colorado. She l i v e d with her parents
u n t i l her marriage t o Charles E. Kimmett on November 21, 1914.
They moved to the Strathmore d i s t r i c t i n A p r i l 1917 and farmed
near N i g h t i n g a l e u n t i l 1958 when they r e t i r e d to Calgary.
Mrs. Kimmett joined the N i g h t i n g a l e W. I. i n 1918, holding
the o f f i c e s of president, f i r s t and second v i c e , secretary, t r e a s u
r e r and d i r e c t o r ( t r e a s u r e r f o r 16 y e a r s ) . She has always been
i n t e r e s t e d i n H a n d i c r a f t s and has h e l d the H a n d i c r a f t Gup f o r the
bast I n d i v i d u a l Work a t the Constituency Conference. Many q u i l ts
have been made under her d i r e c t i o n and encouragement. She d i d a
great deal t o help i n keeping the group together i n d i f f i c u l t times.
Mrs. Kimmett was presented with a L i f e Membership by the
N i g h t i n g a l e W. I. at the Constituency Conference June 1, 1962 held
at the Cheadle H a l l.
