MRS. J. I. JONES
Jessie Patterson MeIvor was born at Virden, Manitoba,
the daughter of the late Mr. and Mrs. Kenneth Mclvor. She
was a member of the Edmonton teaching s t a f f before mer
marriage to J . I. Jones. They have made t h e i r home i n Mann-v
i l l e where he has a lav/ practice. They have one daughter,
Mrs. R. N. Edem of Edmonton, also a member of the teaching
profession.
Mrs. Jones was president of her own branch of Eirch
Creek before she was elected to the office of Constituency
Convener of Vermilion- Vegreville West Constituency i n which
she served for two years. It was during this time that she
organized Lavoy, Rosemary and Wendy Brook Institutes.
Elected to the office of Director of D i s t r i c t 2 i n
1951, Mrs. Jones i s w e l l remembered as one who never lost
sight of the needs of the members, especially those who were
working under d i f f i c u l t i e s , ^ he organised four more branches
i n the next four years, namely, Claymore, Lewood, Drayton
Valley and Mayerthorpe. A g r a t e f u l d i s t r i c t presented her
with a L i f e Membership at the close of her four years service
to the organization i n 1955.
One l i t t l e know fact of her Council years i s the honor
of having been chosen to act as Chairman of Council during
the absence of both the P r o v i n c i a l President and the Vice-
President during the T r i e n n i a l Conference i n Toronto of the
