Pool. Mr. M a c A l l i s t e r became Manager o f the Plant i n 1928,
a p o s i t i o n he held u n t i l h i s retirement i n 1956.
In 1927 Mrs. M a c A l l i s t e r attended a number o f I n s t i t u te
meetings as a v i s i t o r . She became i n t e r e s t e d and i n January
1928 became a member and has been a c t i v e since that time. She
has held a l l the o f f i c e s at branch l e v e l - was p r e s i d e n t d u r i ng
the Second War - and was Constituency Convener of H a n d i c r a f ts
f o r four years. She i s always w i l l i n g to h e l p a t the meetings,
i s e f f i c i e n t and enjoys being a member of the I n s t i t u t e .
Her hobbies are music and h a n d i c r a f t s and she has won a
number of awards w i t h her e n t r i e s i n the P r o v i n c i a l and C o n s t i t uency
competitions during the y e a r s.
Interested i n community and church, Mrs. M a c A l l i s t e r i s
a member of P i r s t United Church and i n the e a r l y years was a
Group l e a d e r i n t h e Women's A s s o c i a t i o n and i s now a member o f
U. C. W. U n i t . She i s a l s o a member o f the H o s p i t a l A u x i l i a r y and
a Past Matron of V i c t o r y Chapter # 19, Order of the E a s t e r n Star.
There are two c h i l d r e n : Gault Alexander who graduated
from the U n i v e r s i t y of A l b e r t a w i t h a Bachelor o f Science i n
A g r i c u l t u r e and i s w i t h the B a i r y Branch, Department o f A g r i c u l t u re
Edmonton; a daughter, Mrs. M a r j o r y E t h e l Brebber, graduated from
McTavish Business College and now makes her home i n Wetaskiwin.
There are three grandsons and a granddaughter:- Stewart and Bonald
M a c A l l i s t e r ; Mary E t h e l and Eobert George Brebber i n Wetaskiwin.
The Wetaskiwin Women's I n s t i t u t e presented Mrs. M a c A l l i s t er
w i t h a L i f e Membership i n the A l b e r t a V/ omen's I n s t i t u t e s i n A p r i l
1965 i n r e c o g n i t i o n of an outstanding member over many years i n
I n s t i t u t e a c t i v i t i e s.
