MRS. THOMAS LIVINGSTONE
H i l d a Davies was bora i n Saundersfoot, South Wales,
i n 1883, one of the f i f t e e n c h i l d r e n of John and Mary
Davies. She was working i n Glasgow, Scotland, when she
met a young Irishman, Thomas L i v i n g s t o n e . In 1903 Tom
migrated t o Edmonton and H i l d a folio- wed i n 1906 t o he come
h i s b r i d e.
They r e s i d e d i n Edmonton u n t i l 1914 and three o f
t h e i r . f i v e c h i l d r e n were born there. In 1914 they came t o
Onoway and took up farming i n the Heatherdown d i s t r i c t.
Mrs. L i v i n g s t o n e joined the Women's I n s t i t u t e i n
Onoway i n 1920. In r e c a l l i n g those e a r l y days of the branch
she remembers bundling up the c h i l d r e n and d r i v i n g i n the
buckboard o r wagon t o the W. I. meetings. In 1928 t h e i r home
was destroyed by f i r e and the L i v i n g s t o n e s moved t o E e r i n t o sh
