School Marie picked up on her education, which had been i n t e r r u p t e d by wartime i n Europe. She took several U n i v e r s i t y courses i n psychology and sociology. Women's I n s t i t u t e has been Marie's chief involvement. She held o f f i c e s at branch, constituency and d i s t r i c t l e v e l s , and served as F i r s t Vice- President and President o f A l b e r t a Women's I n s t i t u t e s . She formed the " Juda Sweet Peas G i r l s Club",( now disbanded) and was t h e i r Supe r v i s o r for f i v e years, during which time her three daughters were members and Trudy was P r o v i n c i a l President o f G i r l ' s Clubs. I n the l a te seventies, during her term as A. W. I. President, she formed an a l l - n a t i v e branch o f A. W. I, named " L i t t l e B u f f a l o " . " Yesterday", a p i c t o r i a l h i s t ory book on farming i n A l b e r t a became a r e a l i t y during her Presidency. In community work, Marie was a c t i v e i n Further Education, l o c a l l y and ( /> provincially; served on her churchboard and v i s i t a t i o n committee; was i n strumental i n g e t t i n g " North Peace Retreat S o c i e t y " e s t a b l i s h e d and worked i n an advisory capacity on other community endeavours. Marie ran a column" Home and Country" in the Peace River River Record Gazette; and f o r 15 years was the W. I. reporter over Radio S t a t i o n CKYL. Marie attended several National and World Conferences; she led the A l b e r t a delegation to Hamburg i n I98O and was A. W. I. representative on the ACWW Canada Conference Committee f o r ACWW Conference i n Vancouver i n I983. She i n i t i a t e d the project" Bulge the Basket f o r Bangladesh" faci l i t a t i n g AWI f i n a n c i a l help to supply sewing and k n i t t i n g machines t o the cottage i n d u s t r i e s o f " M a h i l i Samityour s i s t e r s i n Bangladish. At the I98I Convention, Mrs. Plaizier was presented with an AWI " L i fe Membership" by the P r o v i n c i a l Council. CD
