Mrs. B i s h e l l joined the L o y a l i s t V/ omen's I n s t i t u te
i n 1918 which was just about one year a f t e r i t was organized.
She has been a l o y a l o f f i c e r and worker i n the branch ever
s i n c e . At the present time ( 1959) she i s c o m p i l i n g the
h i s t o r y of the branch. Under her capable d i r e c t i o n the
L o y a l i s t V/ omen's I n s t i t u t e have won many ribbons f o r t h e i r
patchwork and applique q u i l t s .
On F r i d a y evening, March 20, 1959? her home I n s t i t u te
honored Mrs. B i s h e l l w i t h a dinner held i n the l o c a l h a ll
when about t h i r t y - f i v e people were present, i n c l u d i n g the
i n s t i t u t e members and t h e i r husbands. Special guests i n cluded
her daughter and son- in- law, Mr. and Mrs. Walter Enud-son,
past members, Mrs. R. Jones and Mrs. M. Brown, and the
only remaining Charter Members i n the d i s t r i c t , Mrs. J .
Monagle and Mrs. A. Whittmack, Sr. Mrs. Monagle spoke on
the e a r l y days o f the o r g a n i z a t i o n when the Women's I n s t i t u te
was almost the o n l y s o c i a l o u t l e t i n the community.
Mrs. W* Stewart, President o f the L o y a l i s t Branch,
presented Mrs. B i s h e l l w i t h her L i f e Membership p i n and
C e r t i f i c a t e i n r e c o g n i t i o n of her 41 years of f i n e service.
