The family own a farm- ranch operation and have worked with their boys over
the years. They plan to take i t easy now, and s t i l l l i v e i n their home, the
original Williams homestead, which they took over and added to since his folks
retired.
Dorothy has been a valued and charter member of E l l a Jane W. I. of Cessford.
Both are active i n the Berry Creek Gsmiunity Club at Cessford and the Pollockville
Curling Club, as well as coaching and score- keeping- for the local Prairie Rustlers
fastball team for a number of years.
From 1978- 1981 Dorothy was Constituency Convener for Acadia, and from 1981-
1984 D i s t r i c t Director of D i s t r i c t V. Daring this time she helped with the A. W. I.
Safety Programme and was Safety Co- ordinator from 1984- 1990.
During her seven years as Safety Co- ordinator, Dorothy gave many workshops
on Farm Safety, Safety i n the Home, Fire Safety and Elder Safety. She produced
First Aid Kits for farm machinery and a Burn F i r s t Aid K i t . She gave workshops
to assist the elderly i n staying i n their own homes and travelled extensively
across the province taking a i " his information to W. I. members, schools and
rural commanities. In 1983 she received an award from Alberta Agriculture
for " Distinguished Service to Alberta Farm Families i n the f i e l d of health and
safety.
