many times since the o r i g i n of the Constituency i n 1938.
The Cancer Drive and Memorials are a l s o convened under Mrs.
Rutherford's capable l e a d e r s h i p . She i s the area r e p r e s e n t a t i ve
and spends many hours i n a r r a n g i n g the canvassing and sending i n
memorials. Dor years she was also an a c t i v e worker f o r the Red
Cross as the Women's I n s t i t u t e r e p r e s e n t a t i v e.
She has been the Telephone Agent i n M a n n v i l l e since 1917.
She i s a l s o a L i f e member o f the A n g l i c a n W. A.
Her main hobby i s her flowers which she grows i n h er own
garden. The Restroom and L i b r a r y b u i l d i n g has a window box which
i s cared f o r by Mrs. Rutherford too. She buys the bedding plants
and keeps them watered.
There are many more tasks which are too numerous t o mention
and probably many which we have f o r g o t t e n , but a t 72 years of age
( she was born March 23, 1891), we f e e l she i s most deserving of a
L i f e Membership i n the A l b e r t a V/ omen's I n s t i t u t e . She i s s t i l l
keen and a c t i v e l y engaged i n the betterment of the Community.
This L i f e Membership was presented to Mrs. Rutherford on A r r i l
27, 1963 by the branches of the Vermilion- Alexandra and V e g r e v i l l e -
V e r m i l i o n West C o n s t i t u e n c i e s.
