MRS. VERA E. HOLT
I was the oldest daughter of the Randolph family, born J u l y 22,
1912 near Rocky Mountain House. We l i v e d for a time at Nordegg then
i n 1920 we moved to Edmonton where I received my classroom education.
Following the death of my father i n 1927 we moved to a farm i n
the Sangudo area where we learned to cope with emergencies which
served me well i n l a t e r l i f e.
In 1931 I married James Holt and were blessed with two c h i l d r en
Peggy and Robert. This being the depression years we l i v e d o f f the
land and struggled for s u r v i v a l l i k e everyone else - but we were happy.
I became i n t e r e s t e d i n having a community organization f o r the
women and that was at the time we learned about the " Alberta Women's
i n s t i t u t e . " Our " Cosmo Branch" was organized on January 9,1952.
