The Smiths l i v e d i n t h a t province u n t i l 1926 when they moved t o Grimshaw, A l b e r t a . Here Marjory Smith became a Charter Member of the Grimshaw ¥ . 1 . and served as the f i r s t secretary. She remained an a c t i v e member u n t il the family moved t o the coast i n 1939. In 1942 the Smiths came t o L e s l i e v i l l e , A l b e r t a , where she became the t r e a s u r e r of the l o c a l I n s t i t u t e branch a c t i n g i n that capacity f o r four years. Mr. Smith, who i s a g r a i n buyer, was t r a n s f e r r e d t o Penhold i n 1 9 4 6 , and once again Mrs. Smith joined the I n s t i t u t e i n her new home town. She held various o f f i c e s i n the Penhold branch and was president i n 1955 - 1956. In 1947 Mrs. Smith was appointed P r o v i n c i a l Treasurer of the A l b e r t a V/ omen's I n s t i t u t e s and f o r the next ten years she proved to be an e f f i c i e n t and hard working o f f i c e r . She was presented w i t h a L i f e Membership i n the Federated V/ omen's I n s t i t u t e s of Canada by the branches i n the northern part o f the province i n r e c o g n i t i o n o f her work i n arranging transp o r t a t i o n f o r the delegates t o the ' B l u e p r i n t f o r A c t i o n ' Workshop held i n Edmonton. In 1957 the U n i t a r i a n Services Committee of Canada presented her w i t h t h e i r p i n i n r e c o g n i t i on of her work f o r t h e i r organization.
