two daughters, now Mrs. Shapiro and Mrs. Shur, and one son;
and there are seven grandchildren. The Olyans have made
t h e i r home i n Ohipman and i n V e g r e v i l l e since 1912. She
has been a very a c t i v e community worker.
Being of Jewish o r i g i n , she has taken an a c t i v e part
i n the work of the Hadassah Chapter and i n i n s t r u c t i n g i n
Jewish education. She i s a member o f the H o s p i t a l A u x i l i a ry
and a Charter Member of the V e g r e v i l l e V/ omen's I n s t i t u t e.
Reading has been a l i f e - l o n g hobby and Mrs. Olyan has
given f r e e l y of the knowledge gained i n t h i s way. Many
i n t e r e s t i n g and i n s t r u c t i v e papers have been given i n Standi
n g Committee work by her. She does b e a u t i f u l embroidery,
e s p e c i a l l y outwork.
V e g r e v i l l e Women's I n s t i t u t e presented Mrs. Olyan with
a L i f e Membership a t t h e i r Anniversary Party i n May I960 -
bestowed i n s i n c e r e a p p r e c i a t i o n of her l i f e t i m e of good
works.
