MRS. DOROTHEA McFADDEN Mrs. Dorothea McFadden, better known to us as Dorothy or Grandma, was born i n Edmonton, October 5 » 1897. She attended her f i r s t school b u i l t on McDougall H i l l , l a t e r the Queen Anne School. She r e c a l l s parading with school c h i l d r e n when A l b e r t a was declared a province and s t i l l treasures a book received i n 1905. She also watched the s i l v e r spike put i n at the C. N. P. s t a t i on when the r a i l was l a i d . Among her treasures i s a black ribbon badge worn by every school c h i l d i n memory o f King Edward V l l at h i s death on May 8, 1910. Dorthea kept books at the age o f fourteen and received $ 40 a month i n s a l a r y . From 1917— 1919 she was a s s i s t a n t agent at the
