of the U. E. W. A.
Her a s s o c i a t i o n w i t h the Women's I n s t i t u t e s s t a r t ed
when Edna Myers became a j u n i o r member o f the Shelbourne
Women's I n s t i t u t e i n 1909. In 1915 the E i n n i b u r g h Women's
I n s t i t u t e was organized by Mrs. A « H. Rogers and Mrs. Ridley
served as the f i r s t President; then followed the o f f i c e s o f
v i c e - p r e s i d e n t , secretary, t r e a s u r e r and d i r e c t o r . She
served Taber Constituency as Convener from 1933 t o 1937 and
again from 1953 t o 1958. She a l s o served as P r o v i n c i al
Chairman of C a n a d i a n i z a t i o n and Immigration 1937 t o 1941.
The R i d l e y home has always been a h o s p i t a b l e home.
Elowers bloom i n the house and i n the yard and a l l who l i ve
i n the d ry areas of the south know that t h i s c a l l s f o r unr
e m i t t i n g hard work. Her other hobbies include sewing and
d o - i t - y o u r s e l f carpentry. Edna R i d l e y has a g e n i a l f r i e n d ly
p e r s o n a l i t y ; i s broad i n her outlook and i n t e r e s t e d i n the
needs of others.
She e s p e c i a l l y enjoys attending Women's I n s t i t u t e Conventions.
I t was her p r i v i l e g e to t o u r Europe i n 1959 and t o
attend, while Overseas, the n i n t h T r i e n n i a l Conference of the
Associated Country Women o f the World i n Edinburgh.
South Taber Constituency presented Mrs. Ridley w i t h a
L i f e Membership i n A p r i l 1959.
