To show t h e i r grateful appreciation for her long
years of service, she was presented with a L i f e Membership
i n the Alberta Women's I n s t i t u t e s i n June 1955 by the Counc
i l of the A. W. I, with Mrs. S. Lefsrud, Provincial. P r e s i dent
making the presentation. A L i f e Membership i n the
Federated Women's Institutes of Canada was given her i n
1949 by the Council at that time as Alberta L i f e Memberships
had not yet been established as a way of recognizing a member's
contribution.
Charlotte Bridge was born near Seattle, Washington,
of American parentage claiming B r i t i s h descent. She married
Marion L. Thompson i n Yakima i n 1913 and came to a farm at
Coa, ldale i n 1920 with a family of four small children.
Her interests are many: other people, reading, gardening
and her grandchildren.
Although Mrs. Thompson i s now r e t i r e d from active
duty i n the A. W. I., she can be called upon to perform any
part i n the work of the organization and she w i l l do so with
tact and charming e f f i c i e n c y . Mr. and Mrs. Thompson have
l i v e d i n Lethbridge for a number of years and she i s s t i l l
an active member of the Lethbridge Branch, as well as being
a member of the United Church and a c i r c l e of the woman's
Association.
