f a r a neighbor i n our midst. These have beoome a t r a d i t i o n i n our
D i s t r i c t . She has offered her home f o r numerous B r i d a l Showers,
and meetings through the years. I t would be impossible to count
the pies and cakes she has baked, and the chickens that she has
roasted for suppers held i n the D i s t r i c t .
Mrs. Pollack i s a Charter member of St. Paul's Central United
Church Women, and has been President and Secretary- Treasurer for
the group many times, as w e l l as serving on a l l Committees.
I n 1958, tragedy struck the P o l l a c k home, and Mrs. Pollack had
a serious brain tumor operation, which l e f t her p a r t i a l l y b l i n d,
and damaged her senses of t a s t e and smell. The e n t i r e Community
were shoeked and saddened, but we are so g r a t e f u l that she returned
t o us. She has had t o give up many of her hobbies, such
as handicraft and gardening, but has accepted her handicap, and
i s s t i l l interested i n her Community, and e n t h u s i a s t i c about the
I n s t i t u t e . She r a r e l y misses a meeting, and o f f e r s her home every
year f o r a monthly meeting. She i s ever mindful of her Home and
Country.
The members of the Big Meadow Women's I n s t i t u t e , f e e l that i t
i s a great pleasure, to honor as deserving a member as Mrs. Pollack,
with a L i f e Membership i n the A l b e r t a Women's I n s t i t u t e s , i n
r e c o g n i t i o n of her many f a i t h f u l services.
