Although Mrs. B i e l i s h i s a mamber of other organizations she has
served the A l b e r t a Women's I n s t i t u t e s i n most o f the o f f i c e s,
i n c l u d i n g four years as P r o v i n c i a l P r e s i d e n t . As President she l ed
the Alberta Women's I n s t i t u t e s delegation to two conferences o f
the Associated Country Women of the World i n Dublin, Ireland and
i n Lansing, Michigan. She also attended the A. C. W. W. Conferences
i n Oslo, Norway and Perth, A u s t r a l i a , holding voting p r i v i l e g e s.
At present, on N a t i o n a l l e v e l , Martha i s second Vice- President
of the Federated Women's I n s t i t u t e s o f Canada. Because of her
i n t e r e s t i n and involvement with the native people i n Alberta, she
was appointed to the Northern Canada Women's I n s t i t u t e Committee.
At the 1975 P r o v i n c i a l Convention of the A l b e r t a Women's
I n s t i t u t e s Martha B i e l i s h was honored by being presented with
the " I n t e r n a t i o n a l Women's Year Award" for a deserving member.
With a l l her outside involvement, Martha s t i l l finds time to
continue her love of o i l p a i n t i n g , t a k i n g courses and capturing on
canvas r u r a l scenes that are f a s t becoming memories.
