MRS. EI MA GILPIN
Mrs. Emma G i l p i n was born at Pembroke, Ontario, March
4 , 1885. Her Pather, W i l l i a m Eruchartz, was born May 1 0 , 1865
at Dreno, Germany, and came t o Canada when a s m a l l boy w i th
h i s parents. Her Mother, Bertha Eohls, was born August 9 ,
1867 at K e r s t e n , Germany, and came t o Canada with her parents
when she was s i x t e e n . Mr. and Mrs. Bruchartz were married a t
Pembroke, Ontario, J u l y 8 , I884 i n Zion Lutheran Church. Emma
Bruchartz spent her e a r l y years i n Pembroke and was b a p t i z ed
and confirmed i n Zion Church. They l a t e r l i v e d f o r a time on a
farm at Petawawa which i s now part of the M i l i t a r y Camp; then
at C a r t i e r , and Pembroke again before her Pather caught the
western fever and moved the f a m i l y , i n c l u d i n g the canaries i n
t h e i r cages, t o the end o f the s t e e l which, at t h a t time, was
Daysland.
Emma Bruchartz worked i n Daysland that summer f o r $ 5.00 a
