1958 EVENTS ( Continued) Perhaps our most w o r t h w i l e p r o j e c t of the year was the sponsori n g of the mobile T. B. X- Ray u n i t f o r the a r e a . Seventy- one people were X- Rayed, a great s e r v i c e to our community. Our year came t o a c l o s e on a note of f e l l o w s h i p and f u n , our annual supper. Thanks goes to the committee i n charge - Mrs. J . Dreeshen, Mrs. S. M i t c h e l l and Mrs. J . Warke. 1958 SUPPER REPORT The annual W. I. supper was h e l d i n December at which the W. I. were hostesses t o t h e i r husbands, f a m i l i e s and f r i e n d s . The object of the evening was a good time, and along w i t h the meal ( at which l o s e r s of the point system f o r W. I. d u t i e s d i d the s e r v i n g ) t h e r e was a c o n t e s t w i t h a p r i z e f or the person g i v i n g the most and best compliments. The undisputed winner was Mr. R. Underwood. The p r i z e ? A s l i c e of bologna. A program f o l l o w e d , h i g h l i g h t e d by a male speaker from each of the four d i s t r i c t s from which the W. I. i s comprised, Pine Lake, Howell's Lake, G l e n a l l e n and Grassy Lake. Each person p o i n t e d out the m e r i t s of h i s d i s t r i c t . Because the speaker from Grassy Lake was known to be q u i t e a t a l e n t e d t a l k er there was a s i g n , r i g g e d w i t h an e l e c t r i c l i g h t , which was f l a s h e d on and o ff to read " BULL" when a p p r o p r i a t e. The program was f o l l o w e d by games and c o n t e s t s , a f t e r t r i b u te had been p a i d to the o r i g i n a t o r s of these games - Owa, Tagoo and Siam. This was done by everyone forming a c i r c l e and doing a s o r t of b e n d - s t r e t c h e x e r c i s e, w h i l e r e p e a t e d l y c h a n t i n g the names of the honored ones - Owa, Tagoo, Siam ( Oh, what a goose I am). So ended a v e r y s u c c e s s f u l evening of f o o d , f u n and f e l l o w s h i p, enjoyed by everyone. Submitted by Mrs. J . Dreeshen. Mrs. J . Dreeshen made a most s t r i k i n g corsage out of foam rubber to answer the March r o l l c a l l - a S t . P a t r i c k corsage. Mrs. J . Warke i n t r o d u c e d us to " f a l l - o u t " i n a minute r e p o r t at our March meeting. Our club procured a p p r o x i m a t e l y 60 green c o f f e e mugs p l u s a c o f f e e pot f o r c l u b use. Marie Lawrence, three year o l d daughter of Mrs. D. Lawrence, f e l l i n t o a f i s h pond at the home of Mrs. R. T. B e c k i n g s a l e . M a r j o r i e Brown, f i v e year o l d daughter of Mrs. R. Brown rescued M a r i e . Mrs. B e c k i n g s a l e r e p l a c e d the once gay p a r t y dress w i t h Red Cross pyjamas. Our guest, Mrs. Shaw from Lacombe 4 - p o i n t W. I. gave us a v a l u a b l e d e c o r a t i n g h i n t i n A p r i l . I f your drapes l a c k a c o l o r , p a i n t one on w i th t e x t i l e p a i n t s. Our h e a r t f e l t sympathy was extended to Mr. & Mrs. L. Dawson, i n the t r a g i c death of t h e i r son A l l a n , on August 1 5 t h , f o l l o w i n g a car a c c i d e n t. The four main speakers at our W. I. supper were Mr. Dan Lawrence, Mr. Joe Dreeshen, Mr. J . Warke and Mr. R. Underwood. Our system of p o i n t s of m e r i t helped us to get to our meetings on time.
