Some of the r o l l c a l l s of t h e y e a r t h a t were much enjoyed were;
Where I f i r s t met my husband, the t i g h t e s t spot I was ever i n , the most grotesque
vegetable and an exchange of k i t c h e n gadgets.
D u r i n g the summer our W. I. went on a t o u r of the E x p e r i m e n t al
farm a t Lacombe, i n s t e a d of h a v i n g a p i c n i c . This t o u r was g r e a t l y enjoyed by
the small attendance. Those t h a t went, f e l t the t o u r was w e l l worth t h e i r w h i l e.
The M i l l n e r t o n W. I. l a d i e s were guests a t our August meeting. The
s o c i a l a f t e r n o o n of games and c o n t e s t s was enjoyed by a l l .
The c o l l e c t i o n of o l d w o o l l e n s as handled by Mrs. J . Warke.
162 pounds were gathered and sent t o Adanac, Winnipeg. The premiums f o r t h i s
year were, a b l a n k e t , a rug and a p a i r of hand t o w e l s.
The year ended w i t h the a n n u a l f a m i l y supper. This year i t was
h e l d at Howell's Lake S c h o o l . A h i g h l i g h t of the e v e n i n g was Mrs. E. P i e r c e ' s
game c a l l e d Noah's A r k . Everyone enjoyed the a c t i o n s and sound i m i t a t i o n s of
animals and b i r d s performed by the p l a y e r s . We had as our g u e s t s , Mrs. W. Hawkins
and her son, Rex. During the e v e n i n g , Mrs. Hawkins, a former member was presented
w i t h a W. I. spoon as a l i t t l e remembrance f o r her t o t a k e t o her new home a t
B i g V a l l e y . As a climax t o t h i s evening, s i x or seven couples rounded up baby
s i t t e r s and went t o a dance i n a n e i g h b o r i n g community.
Mrs. J . Dreeshen, a member of our W. I. presented the A g r i c u l t u r e
s c h o l a r s h i p a t Awards n i g h t a t t h ? Composite High S c h o o l . This year Mrs. Dreeshen
was the C o n s t i t u e n c y Convenor of Canadian I n d u s t r i e s and A g r i c u l t u r e .
Mrs. W. Whittemore a g a i n became the mother of daughter, G a i l , and
Mrs. M. Meschefski became the mother of son, H a r o l d.
Our average member attendance at meetings was 12^ and our v i s i t o r
attendance was 5 i .
Our b i r t h d a y b a r r e l was pay 5 ^ f o r every m i l e we t r a v e l l e d t o t h e
W. I. meeting i n t h e month of our b i r t h d a y .
