Penhpld Wl meeting
Seventeen members met at
the Memorial Hal! for the May
meeting of the Penhold Wl.
Special guests were women
from the Pine Lake Wl.
Under the leadership of Mrs.
J Nolan. Mrs. L. Long and Mrs.
J. Olson, the hall was decorated
to resemble an Italian sidewalk
cafe, complete with checkered
tablecloths, candles and Italian
music in the background.
A letter was received from
the Hong Jei Children's Home-stating
the club's adopted son,
Choi Soon Yung, will be
needing sponsorship . for. one
more year as he is continuing
his studies.
Mrs G Oroeneveld and Mrs.
E. Johnson will attend the
provincial Wl conference in
June.
A donation was made to the
Penhold School to enable all
eligible children to attend Ule
various field trips that are
planned.
Mrs. S. Ford and Mrs. J.
Nolan showed slides of Italy.
An Italian supper was served
by Mrs. C. Little, Mrs. M Pix-ley.

Pine Lake Wl lo visit nursing home
PINE LAKE — Mrs. John Sawyer and Mrs. Percy Pierce were
co- hostesses at the March meeting of the Pine Lake Wl.
It was reported that Pine Lake Wl has been asked to present a
10- minute program concerning family swimming night, swimming
lessons and St. John's Ambulance courses at the federal Wl
Conference to be held June 17- 20 in Banff. Mrs. C. Lawrence
reported that the quilt, which is going to Banff for competition, is
half completed.
Pine Lake Wl will go to Valley Park Manor to give a tea party
f . the residents. Five members have completed a macrame course
a id Mrs. Winters and five more members are beginning another
t : urse. Some 21 ladies took the sewing course sponsored by the Wl.
Twenty- six persons attended a meeting at Pine Lake Hub
March 7 to hear Mayor R. E. Barrett and Ted Meeres of Red Deer
speak about the Red Deer museum project.

Pine Lake Wl plans coffee party > Va^ vj
PINE LAKE - The annual coffee party of the Pine Lake Wl
will be held June 6 at the Pine Lake Hub
Final plans for the party were discussed at the recent meeting
of the group. Mrs. Eric Pierce was hostess and Mrs. Dave Smith co-hostess
Reports included one from the Cancer Fund committee
which reported a successful drive in the Pine Lake area. Entries in
the Handicraft Tea were well represented.
A committee was drawn up to complete plans for the group's
part in the entertainment for the Federated Wl conference to be
held in Banff in June. Mrs R Lawrence, health convener,
presented a program on food nutrition which covered the areas of
weight control and correct eating.
The Pine Lake branch of the Red Cross reports another " over
the top" campaign for funds. One hundred and forty- one articles of
sewing and . knitting were sent to headquarters in Calgary and
another large shipment should soon be ready to go.

Pine Lake Yule program Dec. 19
PINE LAKE — The Pine Lake Christmas program for the district,
Wl and Sunday school will be held Dec 19 at the " Hub"
Mrs. G. Klepper was hostess for the November meeting of the
Pine Lake Wl, with Mrs. E. Pierce the co- hostess. Birthday
greetings were sung for Mrs. R Beckingsale and Mrs. P Pierce
Mrs. J. Olson was welcomed as a new member. Committee reports
were heard concerning the jelly- making program, family swimming
night, a successful Halloween party and the mall bazaar. Mrs. J.
Warke and Mrs. C. Lawrence reported on the representatives'
meeting in Red Deer. Plans were discussed concerning the annual
Christmas supper for Wl members and their families The
nominating committee recommended Mrs. D. Scott as secretary for
the coming term and Mrs. R. Brown as the new vice- president.
The Howell's Lake Cub pack held a successful telephone whist at
the R. Lawrence, J. Sawyer, K. Storme and J. Vincent homes, with
their sons as hosts. Mrs. C. Lawrence and L. Munro were grand
prize winners and Mrs. M. Kramer and M. Mechefske were grand
booby prize winners.
