Pine Lake WI offers crafts program
P I N E L A K E — Twelve members of the P i n e Lake WI met at the
home of M r s . L y l e Munro for the January meeting, with M r s . A .
Moschenross and M r s . J . Sawyer as co- hostesses. R o l l call brought
some interesting ideas concerning the " Twenty- five C e n t s " club.
After the yearly financial statement, several committee reports
were given; ( including those stating a successful Christmasprogram,
and a well- attended family swimming night at the Red Deer swimm
i n g pool. A n arts and crafts program w i l l be set up whjch w i l l i n clude
such crafts as knitting, sewing, macrame, cross- stitch and
broom- stick lace. A bookkeeping course w i l l also be h e l d through
the department of agriculture. Quilting w i l l be held at the Hub
every afternoon until completion.
The Nova Scotia scrapbook is to be completed. F o r social service
a $ 10 donation is to be made to the Lauris Beck fire fund. F o r handicraft,
Mrs. J . Sawyer introduced M r s . N . Hovey and M r s . D. L ee
- fc'ho presented their display of arts and crafts which included bread
dough flower art, decoupage, mod- podge, macrame as well as other
arts. A representative was sent f r om the WI to attend the Community
Club meeting at the " H u b ".

The May meeting of the
Pine Lake W. I. was held at the
home of Mrs. E. Pierce with
Mrs. J. Olson and Mrs R.
Clutton as co- hostesses.
Mrs J. Sawyer reported
that 42 entries from Pine Lake
W. I. were entered at the annual
Handicraft Show in Red
Deer recently. Mrs. R.
Lawrence held the highest
number of points for our
group.
Thirteen of our members
entertained with our Kitchen
Band for residents of the Auxiliary
Hospital in Red Deer.
Pine Lake W. I. is sponsoring
a garden club for
children, ages 6- 9 and 10- 13.
Another project will begin
July 10, when some of our
members attended the 60th
anniversary celebration for
Clearview W. I.
Mrs. J. Sawyer and Mrs. D
Smith will be our delegates for
the provincial convention at
Olds, A delegate was also
selected to attend the Red
Deer conference.
The annual Cancer canvass
netted $ 18L, 00f for the Pine
Lake district.
Mr. and Mrs. Allan
Armstrong, recent
newlyweds, were honored at
the party and a gift from the
district.
Plans werelnadeTor the
Coffee Party to be held at the
" Hub" on Mon. May 27 at 9.
Mrs. J. Warke presented the
program for Social Service.
Mrs. L. Munro won the on
time prize.
