President Irma Lawrence welcomed
visitor Carolyn Richards,
read a poem Elusive Spring following
by the repetition of the
Creed. It was noted that March 8
was International Women's Day.
$ 365 was realized at the annual
Heart Fund Card Party.
Final total will be given in April.
Founder's Day, Feb. 19, was
recognized when six members and
three visitors met at the home of
Marion Brown for an afternoon
talk- about.
Discussion of the Notice of
Motion in the Home and Country
resulted in a negative response.
Members agreed the branch
pay 50 per cent of the expenses for
six members and four banquet
guests attending the District 3
Conference.
$ 23 was donated to Bob the
Beaver project.
Program was Environment
given by Isabelle Beck who outlined
recommendations made by
the Pine Lake Restoration Advisory
Committee, in an effort to
return the lake to year 1900 status
by the year 2000.

In recognition of the 38th Anniversary
of the Pine Lake WI four
members of the Hillsdown WI
were welcomed as guests, as well
as two visitors.
The final amount collected for
the Heart Fund was $ 530.
For her programme, Lillie Clutton
welcomed and introduced Patricia
Wynne, Executive Director
of the Red Deer Food Bank, who
outlined the evolution of the Food
Bank, ten years ago, to the present
day. The purpose of the Food
Bank is to ( 1) Feed the hungry; ( 2)
Promote human dignity; ( 3) Help
prevent the senseless waste of
food; ( 4) Develop community
awareness of poverty issues; and
( 5) Intervene with policy makers
on behalf of those in need.
It was emphasized that clients
are allowed a maximum of 4 hampers
per year. A hamper is designed
to last from 3- 5 days.
Annual Coffee Party will be held
June 1, from 9: 30 - 11 a. m. at the
Community Hall. Baking and
plants will be available for sale.
Roll call was " Name your personal
recycling project."
Four members received pins for
25 years of perfect attendance,
namely Irma Lawrence, Millie
Munro, Kathleen Lawrence, Gayle
Olson, whose pin was one given to
our Branch by the Penhold Branch
when they disbanded. Gayle was
a member of Penhold WI before
joining Pine Lake WI.
