H OUTSTANDING ARTTP. J. V.^ A L B E R T A W O M E N ' S I N S T I T U T E S CONVENTION JUNE 6- 7- 8,1995 AUGUSTAN A LUTHERAN COLLEGE CAMROSE ALBER TA T O G E T H E R W E C A N Volunteer of week Vera Jennette Pierce was recently honored by the Pine Lake Women's Institute with a Branch Life Membership. Mrs. Pierce was a charter member of the Pine Lake Women's Institute branch formed in 1956 and has had 26 years of perfect attendance. As well as serving in all executive offices, Mrs. Pierce has always been a strong community supporter. She taught Sunday School for many years, is a member of the Holy Trinity Church, HUB Community Centre, Pine Lake Ladies' Guild and Ghostpine 40+ Club. She is still an active carpet bowler at the age of 88. She and her husband, Eric, will celebrate their 60th Wedding Anniversary in 1996. Pine Lake - Kathleen Lawrence Holidays affected attendance as only nine members answered the roll call which was " What have you done, or arc doing, lo the financially solvent after retirement?" Eighty- six persons signed the guest book for the 30th Anniversary of the Annual Coffee Party and enjoyed the special display of handicraft, recognizing the occasion. A short Provincial Convention report was given with recommendation the Provincial Report book be read for the complete account. An entry in the Group of Five class has been made in the Westerner Creative Arts Competition. To date, six Farmer's Markets have been held at the Bi- Lo Service Station. On June 24, friends and well-wishers gathered at the home of Art and Eileen Lawrence to extend congratulations to Jarret Lawrence and his bride. Karen. Program for June was Education presented by Marilyn Wattenbarger, who has prepared a very interesting and comprehensive report on " How to Overcome Adversity and Cupc ( With Changes in One's Life" Hats off to • ALBERTA ^ WOMEN'S " ^ INSTITUTES Faye Mayberry ( left), FWIC executive officer from Alberta, and Grace Glover, Alberta Wl District 3 director, for promoting FWIC's cookbook " Cooking Collections" at the Edmonton Spring Gift Show.
