The Pine Lake Women's Institute organization has
spanned 40 years with a focus on personal dvelopment, the
family and community action.
Over the year. 61 ladies have contributed to the branch.
Fifteen members are listed in the Memorial Book.

Canadian industries, citizenship and
legislation, education and cultural
activities, environment and conservator
handicraft, " health, home economics,
international affairs and
social services. One of these topics is
highlighted at each monthly, evening,
meeting held at ihc Huh Community
Pine Lake WI has been a consistent
supporter of the local community
with generous annual gifts of money
and kind to ( he Hub Community
Centre. Yearly canvassing is done for
the Heart and Stroke Foundation and
the Canadian Cancer Society. District
em irnnmental concerns have resulted
in support to the Pine Lake Concerned
Citizens, Annual Road Garbage
Clean- Up, Pine Lake Community
Recycling Project, as well as sponsoring
an Environmental Farm Law
| Seminar and Water Management
information meeting. Recently, local
| pioilucc can be purchased or sold
through the Wl- sponsorcd Farmers'
Market which runs from May to
September.
The branch has given support to

u ith young couples as they begin their
life together. Members and spouses
are distinguished for 25. 40. 50 and 60
years as wedded partners.
Annual Christmas Supper is
always well attended and enjoyed by
the community. The annual morning

branch has become famous);
Christmas cookie plates for Meals on
Wheels.
Branch strength bolsters effective
constituency, provincial, federal and
world organizations. Delegates have
been sponsored for Alberta Women's
Institute Conferences. Marion Brown
and Doris Warke have held provincial
education convenerships. Various
Conference in Vancouver. Marion
Brown and Doris Warke were lull-time
delegates. Marion was also privileged
to sing in the Canadian host
choir.
Worldwide friendships have been
developed. Roy and Marion Brown
visited Australian friends in I9N3 as
well as revisiting the Ncwtons in
Haden. Queensland. The Haden
Queensland Country Women's Assoc.
has been the Pine Lake WI pen friend
group since 1963.
Pine, Lake WI history is fully
recorded1; in three volumes ( 400
pages), ' completed by E. Marion
Brown for this special 1996 anniversary
