Eleven members and two visitors
celebrated Founder's Day, beginning
with a pot luck supper followed by
our business meeting.
Plans were completed concerning
our annual Heart Fund card party
which was held Feb. 24, at Pine Lake
Hub.
President Marilyn Wattenbarger
got several questionnaire forms back,
re: her concerns about making our WI
more meaningful; such as— What
does WI mean to you? What do you
want to get out of WI.' Can you see
Eleven members met at the Hu
Centre on March 7 for their March
meeting. Birthday greetings were
sung for four of our members. It was
reported that a very successful whist
card party was held for a donation to
the Heart and Stroke Foundation, in
Red Deer. There were almost 14
tables in play with a total of $ 520 dollars
raised.
Plans were completed for delegates
to attend the District 3
Conference, held in Red Deer, March
13- 14, at the North Hill Inn.
A letter is to be sent to the County
of Red Deer requesting that recycle
bins be placed at the present landfill
sight at Pine Lake.
A committee was struck to complete
the quilt block to be added to
complete a quilt for District 3 to honor
the 100th anniversary of organization
of the Women's Institute.
Social Service convener Gayle
Olson showed two videos, the first
was titled " Heart Disease and Stroke
in Women" and the second was titled
" Heart and Stroke Research Myths
and Realities."
Plans were presented to honor Pine
Lake Women's Institute's 40th
anniversary, April 17. at the Hub.
Hostesses Irma Lawrence and
Gayle Olson then served a delicious
lunch.

April meeting of Pine Lake WI
was held at the Hub Centre, April 9,
with hostesses Lillie Clutton and Irma
Lawrence Plans were completed for
the celebration of our 40th anniversary
to be held. April 17, at the Hub.
Plans were also completed for our
participation in the Red Deer
Constituency Handicraft Tea and
competition. Also arranged for the
bridal shower of Cathy Lawrence-
Mitchell set for May 25, 2PM, at the
Hub
Forty years of Pine Lake WI history
has been compiled in several volumes
by Marion Brown and will be on
display at the 40th celebration.
changes that need to be done to
achieve your needs and, if so, what
are they? How do we add new members
to our organization? Do we have
any ideas on how we can attract them?
Minute minders for now on will
concern information of South Africa.

A blind auction will be held at the
March meeting to glean funds for our
share of the costs for the Adelaide
Hoodless project.

book, covering 40 years history
of Pine Lake WI, will be completed
with our 40th celebration.
A request was put forth to our
members to think about placing their
names to stand for Constituency conveners
of various positions.
Our guest speaker for the evening
was Constituency Convener, Helen
Williams, who informed us about
many constituency projects and huci.

was also a guest and informed us
about various items concerning district
business, including participation
in the District 3 quilt project.
Hostesses Millie Munro and Kathleen
Lawrence served lunch to bring . the
evening to a close. .
Got started on the annual coffee
party which will run June 5. at the
Hub; the Farmer's Market, every
Friday at the Bi- Lo service station, 3-
7PM, beginning May 17.
Delegate Lillie Clutton gave a
report on the District 3 Conference.
All past Pine Lake WI minute
books will be placed in the Red Deer
Archives.
A reminder was issued re: deadline
for family histories to be put in the
new history book for Elnora and Pine
Lake - Buried Treasures. Book 2,
which should be ready for sale for
Christmas, 1996.
After the Roll Call ( THE HOUSEHOLD
CHORE I LEAST LIKE TO
DO ), Ella Sawyer, environmental
convener, presented a video titled
Great Expectations and Recycling in
Alberta.
