Garden Club - 17 c h i l d r e n from 3 - 1 3 years p a r t i c i p a t e d in
the project. Beth Smith judged the gardens i n l a t e July. On Tues. Aug. 2/ 99
each garden was v i s i t e d by parents, children and other interested personel.
Each c h i l d was given July and August Millennium quarters, comment sheet and photo.
Farmers' Market - Members' schedule from June 11 - Sept. 3
on Fridays 3: 00 - 5: 30 pm. 111 tables 6 $ 5.00 grossed $ 550.00. Appreciation
g i f t of £ 50.00 given to the Shackletons. One complimentary table for the 2000
season was drawn from names of a l l ' 99 vendors.

W. I. Corner - Flowers were planted and Kim Ward of " Double
U Services cut the grass for $ 133.75.

Coffee Party - June 2 - $ 2.50 fee

J e l l y i n a woven willow basket made by Marion Brown.
Recreation Board donation - £ 25.00 to Playground Equipment Fund
Christmas Family Supper' - 35 adults and children enjoyed a
d e l i c i o u s turkey supper, v i s i t from Santa who gave each c h i l d a g i f t . " Bingo"
followed with a loonie as a prize for each of the ten games. A s p e c i a l welcome to
the Greening Family and Ron C l u t t o n . In l i e u of Educational Conveners' reports,
Vice President gave a b r i e f report covering the year's events.

IINK TEA - Oct. 12 - In recognition o f the 70th anniversary of
the Persons' Case, Kathleen Lawrence and Marion Brown hosted a s p e c i a l tea f or
branch members. In t y p i c a l 1929 fashion, Kathleen Lawrence prepared wilted
cucumber salad sandwiches on pink bread, I r i n c e of Wales Cake and a tea of blend
of Five Famous Teas. Marion Brown a s s i s t e d Kathleen Lawrence and presented a quiz
on the FAMOUS FIVE: Emily Murphy, N e l l i e McClung, Irene Parlby, Henrietta Muir
Edwards and Louise McKinney.

Constituency Conference - A p r i l 17, 1999'. with Doris Warke,

attending. Two nurses, Darla F f a h l e r and Maureen Scott, gave an informative
presentation on the Day Hospice program to the j o i n t meeting of Red Deer Centre
and iiea Deer West.
Kiwanis Safety C i t y Donation - The Women's I n s t i t u t es
Constituencies of Red Deer Centre, Red Deer West and I n n i s f a i l made a donation of
£ 400.00 to the safety project. This money repr § sents the remaining funds of the 1997 Farm Safety Workshop. Branch member s i t s on the Safety C i t y Committee to help

to attena as a convener. She accompanied Past Pres. Ethel Morrisroe and Present
Doris Northey to Edmonton.
