C o n f e r e n c e By VI Moore For the first time Red Deer Centre and Red Deer Wesl leld a joint Constituency Conference on April 17, at the Red Deer Museum's Stewart Room. 43 ladies attended) he annual, one day event. Greetings were extended from the Red Deer District Museum and Archives by Anetle Scheper. Doris Northey AWI president, was the provincial rep-esentative, with Marcella Basco district three director, and AWI past president Ethel Morrisroe also attended. Conveners Eileen Fedderson, Red Deer West, and V i Moore Red Deer Centre presided with Faye Jennings and Helen Williams as constituency secretaries. Following O Canada, the Mary Stewart Collect was repeated. The memorial was conducted by Ruth Bloze, assisted by pianist Kathleen Lawrence. A moment of silence, readings and roses were presented in memory of the five members who passed away during the year. AWI president Doris Northey brought information on AWI, with emphasis on the Five Person Case unveiling to be held Oct. 18, 1999 in Calgary. Beatrice Ganter introduced Marcella Basco who brought information on Federated Women's Institutes and Associated Country Women of the World. FWIC will hold their conference June 2000 in Brandon, Manitoba with Faye Mayberry from the Ridgewood branch going in as president of FWIC. Eileen Fedderson introduced and thanked Darla Pfahler and Maureen Scott from the Pilgrims Hospice Society. They gave an informative presentation on the Day Hospice program. Il provides support for those with life threatening illness, and their families. The Constituency History Book was on display with a request for additional histories to keep the book up to date. Our new historian is Helen Williams. A l l displays, education convener and secretary reports were appreciated by those attending. Vivian Stickland has had 40 years perfect attendance out of 57 years with the Ridgewood branch. Adding to the enjoyment of the Conference Pat Miiyne our song leader lead us in a song composed by former member Robbie Copland of Blackfalds, Can we do it, yes we can. Accompanied by Jeanne Harrison on the piano. Elle Dell entertained us with a humorous skit, preparing for a W. I. meeting. Marilyn Wattenbarger. Pine Lake WI has accepted the position of constituency convener. She is wished the best and we, as a constituency, look forward to the coming years. Lubelle Taylor gave the courtesy report.
