" tou have to adjust your own life to cope with
the happenings down the years."
This was a piece of advice from Ada Newton
after receiving a service bar for her long service
to the 9CWA. especially with her work In the
Haden branch.
Ada has been a QCWA member for 50 years
and has served as president and secretary of the
Haden branch.
During this time she helped with the building
and maintenance of the nursery attached to the
Haden Hall, the placement of equipment In the
children's playground, an electric copper In the
Haden Hall, the sending of food parcels and
woollen clothing to England during World War
II, and the planting of trees In the district.
Ada also Joined the Loyal Pride of Wahoon
Lodge ( MUTOOF150 years ago.
She recenUy celebrated her 86th birthday
and looked back on a time of Joys and sorrows,
two world wars, dozens of droughts and a primitive
way of life.
" I was a home- born baby In the little cottage
on the dairy farm at Gowrte Flat, the second
daughter and third child of pioneers John William
and Sarah Ruth Newton." Ada recalled.
