Heart Fund Card Party - 43 people - $ 483.00
Cancer Canvas - $ 140.00
J e l l y Project - Few summer berries were available but juice
on hand f i l l e d orders f o r a p r o f i t of $ 123.43
Farmers' Market - 16 Fridays 3: 00 - 5: 30 pm 100 tables
rented with an average of 6.8 tables per market. Profit of ii< 48 5 • 60.
Appreciation g i f t to Fred and Marilyn Shackle. ton of $ 50.00

W. I. Corner - Maintained grass cutting and planted blue and
white flowers to mark the 100th Birthday of Women's I n s t i t u t e s .
Red Deer Westerner - Group of Five i n Creative Arts Section
entry which received second prize
Crossroads Ag Society F a i r - Sponsored Needlecraft Section
and presentea Mildred Moore with the award. Doris Warke was the recipient of the
AWI Vase f o r the blue and white flower arrangement i n a tea cup.
Coffee Party - 70 guests. Branch L i f e Member Vera Pierce
was honored by the branch as she celebrated her 90th birthday May ,4, 1997.
Summer Family Pot Luck Supper - Aug. 19 - Extended families
appreciated the fun evening hosted by Bob & Irma Lawrence on " Lawrence's H i l l"
overlooking the lake.
Video Night - Donated four jars of j e l l y i n a hand woven
basket f o r the Nov. 1st HUB Race Night.
HUB Donation - 55 cup coffee maker
Christmas Family Supper - 51 people big and small enjoyed
a " Sing f o r your Supper" meal and an evening of Flag Whist. Attending were Joey
Stranger and Janet Venz, A u s t r a l i a n guests of Roy & Marion Brown. The following
day Janet broke her elbow while skating on ' real' ice on Pine Lake and spent
three days i n the Red Deer Hospital.

Members volunteer hours for W. I. were tabulated
Special Recognition and Honours for the Year:
Beverly Sawyer, daughter of John and E l l a Sawyer, became the bride of Dwayne
Cardinal A p r i l 26, 1997 and was honoured with a b r i d a l shower A p r i l 12.
Margo ( Lawrence) Sevcik who had been married Oct. 5, 1996 was honoured at a
B r i d a l Shower Feb. 1, 1997
Former member, Edna Whittemore, requested the PLWI cater to the Memorial Service
for her husband, Harry Whittemore A p r i l 29, 1997
Irma and Bob Lawrence welcomed a new grandson, Samual Edward Lawrence M i t c h e l l,
J u l y 4 - son of Cathy and John
L i l l i e and. Roy Clutton welcomed a new grandaughter, Amanda Kelsey Payette, J u l y 11
- daughter of Betty- Anne and Matt

the 100th Anniversary.
