Pine Lake - Isabelle Beck
Eleven members and one visitor
answered the roll call with an
outline of their summer activities.
" Minute Minder" reports were
given by each member.
Pine Lake Ladies' Guild and
the Pine Lake WI enjoyed an
August outing together, including
a program of potluck lunch at
Trenville Park, tour of the Trochu
Arboretum, then afternoon tea at
St. Ann Ranch. Many enjoyed the
Trochu Flower Show as well.
Handicraft convener, Lillie
Clutton, presented a pair of scissors
and a Certificate of Recognition
to Ruth Bolze for receiving
the highest number of points in
the Needlecraft Section of the
Crossroads Agriculture Society
and the Pine Lake Hub Community
Centre Fair. Pine Lake WI
Group of Five entry was awarded
second place at the Westerner
Creative Arts Fair in Red Deer.
Grandmother's Flower Garden
Quilt received a first place award.
Red Deer Centre Constituency
branches will assist and join in
the celebration of tho
Constituency's 70th anniversary
at the Penhold Hall, Oct. 6.
WI ladies are busy making jellies
for the sale, Friday, Nov. 2, at
the Parkland Mall Bazaar.
Evening program was presented
by Education Convener
Edna Whittimore, who gave a very
interesting summary of various
systems of education. She noted
that in the past education was
rigid and without input from the
parents. Now, at least in larger
centres, parents and students can
search for the method of education
that is best suited to the individual.
