Twenty- eight rugs wei'e entered and Mrs. Angus won the Grand First
in Class 203. Rugs were judged on the following points: Design, 25; Color,
25; Workmanship, 50. There were 44 quilts entered and Calgary W. I. won
the Grand First in Class 302. Quilts were judged as follows: Classes 301
and 302— General appearance, 20; Color and design, 25; Quilting, 25; Patchwork,
25, and Cleanliness, 5. Class 303— General appearance, 10; Color
and design, 10; Quilting design, 10; Cleanliness 10; Quilting, 60. Class
304— Material suitability, 20; Color and design, 25; Workmanship, 50;
Cleanliness, 5.
A l l other classes were judged on pattern cut, suitability of material, 50
points, and workmanship, 50 points.
Angus Ridge W. I. was the winner of the Mrs. J . Macgregor Smith shield
for the second time on the basis, 3 points for a first prize, 2 for second prize
and 1 for third. They had a total of 30 points. Boyle W. I. came second
and Calgary third.
