h o w l i n g success, t o speak g e n t l y . Really, g i r l s a n d ladies, I never a t t e n d e d a conv
e n t i o n i n m y l i f e t h a t I enjoyed more a n d I have a t t e n d e d lots. We l i k e the freedom,
the openness of i t a l l , a n d the atmosphere was perfect. F r o m b e g i n n i n g to
e n d there was n o t h i n g t o m a r the perfectness of i t a l l ( o n l y I s a b e l N o b l e l o s t her
suitcase a n d had to b o r r ow k n i c k e r s and shoes f r om M r . J a c k s o n , t h e Y . M . C . A .

O u r l o c a t i o n was ideal. C a n ' t y o u see i t — l i s t e n — B e a u t i f u l L a k e E d i t h in
f r o n t of us, l o f t y m o u n t a i n s a l l a r o u n d us, a n d the most wonderful trees, s k y and
w e a t h e r y o u c o u l d desire. We d i d a l l we p l a n n e d and more. The mornings in
C o n v e n t i o n , out among the trees, l i s t e n i n g t o good w o r k done, e n t h u s i a s t i c talks
b y M i s s M a c m i l l a n and M i s s T h o m p s o n , also M r . M a c a l l i s t e r , were just to our
l i k i n g a n d I o n l y w i s h the women c o u l d met i n the same way, f o r no one gets t i r e d,
a n d h a l f a d a y at c o n v e n t i o n is enough, t h e n the other half out where G o d r e a l ly
is, h e l p s t o m a k e l i f e s e em perfect.
W e r e n ' t t h e hikes, w h e n we s aw t h a t wonderful gorge a n d l i s t e n e d t o i t s roarings
a n d m o a n i n g s , just to y o u r l i k i n g , g i r l s ? D i d n ' t y o u w i s h y o u owned a cottage some
p l a c e w i t h i n sight of i t ? I d i d . A n d the swims! O h ! for more of t h e m , the r o w i n g ,
t h e campfires and songs. The d e l i g h t f u l a u t o d r i v e , w h i c h , b y the way, we were
a b l e t o t a k e o n l y t h r o u g h the k i n d n e s s o f t h e W o m e n ' s I n s t i t u t e.
Y e s , we h a d a C o n v e n t i o n , a n d if a l l c o n v e n t i o n s were l i k e u n t o ours, people
w o u l d n e v e r t i r e o f t h e m , a n d t h i n k o f i t , next y e a r ' s C o n v e n t i o n w i l l be as g l o r i o us
for we are t o meet at B a n f f for one week. Save n ow for i t a n d send as m a n y delegates
as y o u can, for we w i l l c l i m b m o u n t a i n s , take a d r i v e to L a k e L o u i s e , m o o n l i g ht
b o a t rides, more s w i m m i n g a n d as we expect one h u n d r e d of y o u t o be there, w e ' ll
have a r o u s i n g c o n v e n t i o n proper.
