A few of our i n s t i t u t e s have succumbed altogether to the constant a t t r i t i on of d e p a r t i n g m e i n l s T s , a few have s p r u n g u p i n new d i s t r i c t s , a n d the remainder are b r a v e l y c u r r y i n g o n t h e i r work i n the hopes of better times. 1 h a v e not the slightest doubt that in t l e future our settlers w i l l r e t u r n , or t h e i r places be t a k e n b y others who will find the Women's I n s t i t u t e as helpful to their c o m m u n i t y as d i d their pwdecftwow. T h e most isolated I n s t i t u t e , also the most northerly, is at Fort M c M u r r ay where the women c o n t i n u e to do s p l e n d i d work a l t h o u g h for a t i m e last year their r a n k s w e n so depleted ( hat the meetings could not be held. Since t h e n however t h e y have re- organized. They spent $- 13.110 o n a C h r i s t m a s tree for the l o c a l c h i l d r e n . T h e n they took under their care a n a t i v e f a m i l y whose daughters were suffering f r om tuberculosis They s u p p l i e d t h em w i t h milk, made c l o t h i n g for the c h i l d r en a n d the convener of t h e i r c h i l d welfare e o m m i i t e e v i s i t e d the home and was very successful in p e r s u a d i n g 1 h em to keep it clean and well aired. They have m a i n t a i n e d t h e i r funds by s l e i g h i n g p a r t i e s a n d dances, and p r e p a r a t i o n s are b e i n g made for n bazaar. T h e I n s t i t u t e at A t h a b a s c a w h i c h last year was not very n o u r i s h i n g l i a s t a k en a new lease of life. The m e e t i n g arc well a t t e n d e d and new members are being added. S i i n e very successful d e m o n s t r a t i o n s on c o o k e r y were h e l d and a m i l l i n e ry d e m o n s t r a t i o n was much a p p r e c i a t e d not only by the older members but also by the y o u n g girls of the t o w n. T h i s y e a r 1 a m pleased to be able ( o say more about the I n s t i t u t e s i n t h e G r a n de P r a i r i e d i s t r i c t t h a n I w: is able to last year, as 1 have been a c t i n g as their convener m y s e l f u n t i l t h e i r c o n s t i t u e n c y c o u l d be p r o p e r l y o r g a n i z e d . Beports have come in w i t h commendable r e g u l a r i t y f r om four Institutes, P o d W i l l o w , I. a ( dace, H e r m it L a k e a n d F i x i n g Shot. Hed W i l l o w is a new I n s t i t u t e organized on O c t o b e r 11th of last year by M r s . F i n l a y of L u k e Saskatoon. Fifteen members were e n r o l l e d at the o r g a n i z a t i on m e e t i n g a n d since t h e n this number has been almost d o u b l e d . The general welfare of the c o m m u n i t y , the relief of needy families, . supplying of cocoa to the c h i l d r en at entertainments, donations to the local nursing funds arc among their many a c t i v i t i e s , and the money for these schemes has been r a i s e d b y concerts, sales, teas a n d v a r i e t y e n t e r t a i n m e n t s . The m o n t h l y meetings arc also enlivened b y intere s t i n g debates. T h e I n s t i t u t e at L a G l a c e makes up i n e n t h u s i a sm and u n t i r i n g a c t i v i t y what i t l a c k s i n n u m l w r s . A s c h o o l k i t eben, a C h r i s t mas tree, a c r o q u e t set for t h e c h i l d r en a n d granite cups are token of t h e i r interest i n the younger members of the comm u n i t y . They have also presented an organ and two c h a i r s to L a G l a c e school. T o a c c o m p l i s h a l l t h i s t h e y have g i v e n d i n n e r s a n d dances and whist drives.
