ALBERTA WOMEN'S INSTITUTES Coaldale, January 1944. Dear Fellow- Members:- You are i n v i t e d to p a r t i c i p a t e i n a nation- wide birthday party. February i s the anniversary month of the founding of the f i r s t Women's I n s t i t u t e i n the world i n 1897. Our National President has suggested that each i n s t i t u t e so i n c l i n e d give a small birthday g i f t of money to the . ederated organisation for an emergency fund - to further i t s very important work. A special event can be held or the regular meeting could be " g l o r i f i e d" f o r the occasion, and what a f i n e opportunity to give more p u b l i c i t y to our own c lub • I hope you l i k e t h i s idea and the g i f t s are made payable to Mrs. H. J, Montgomery, Wetaskiwin - please mark them birhtday g i f t to the F. W. I. C. January Federated News has more about t h i s idea. I hope you are enjoying the C i t i z e n ' s Foxum " Of things to come" which is broadcast over the net work each Tuesday evening at 9 - m a t e r i a l to be studied i n connection with these i n t e r e s t i n g Forums i s a v a i l a b l e by w r i t i n g to 198 College St., Toronto. A d r a f t of the Health Insurance b i l l s may soon be presented to Parliament. Now is the time to study the proposed schemes and to express your opinion to your elected r e p r e s e n t a t i v e or t o the Adult Education Council i n Edmonton. Discussions on the causes of Juvenile Delinquency, S o c i a l Hygiene, the need for N a t i o n a l Standards of Education and a J u s t and Durable Peace are a l l important just now. Our slogan must remain " Study While We Work'.' Let us do our best to keep our homes cheery and bright, to write often to the loved ones i n the s e r v i c e s , and to p i s y d a i l y f o r God's w i l l to be ior. c _ n our war torn world.
