P i n e L a ke W o m e n ' s I n s t i t u t e Nearly two- thirds of the North America adult population have recently used prayer or some lorm ol alternative medicine according to a recent survey It is hoped that the complimentary or alternative medicine will help treat and prevent disease and enhance quality of life Such alternative medicine include acupuncture and chiropractic provided by an expert or sell administrated therapies such as herbal or botanical supplements, special diets and megavita-mins. Deep breathing, meditation, yoga and message could also he effective to reduce pain, anxiety and depression. Isabelle Beck, branch health convener, cautioned her listeners to make sure the alternative treatment will not react with conventional medicines that may cause serious side effects. M i l l i e Munro touched on the 60th A n niversary of V E Day and remarked on the recently aired informative TV. programs of Hitler's attempt lo starve the Dutch people and the extermination of the Jews. Doris Warke gave a full report of the Constituency Handicraft Display and Tea held at the Red Deer and District Museum. The branch entered eleven articles of which ten placed first and one second. 124 attended the April 23rd afternoon tea and viewed the attractive display. 17 children w i l l participate in the 2005 Childrens Garden Club Faye Nichol- ^ hnnk you for supporting the ^ nnndinn Cancer Society's 2 0 05 ,£> oor-^ 7b-^> oor Campaign. son purchased the seeds which were packaged at the close of the meeting Melissa Greening has alerted and encouraged all the gardeners to participate in the W. l. Garden Club float foi the June 11th Centennial Parade. Doris Warke reported that the quilting on the AWI quilt has just about been completed. A special thanks is extended to the Hillsdown ladies. Pine Lake branch members and visiting ladies for their help i n the project. The Cancer canvas has been completed with over $ 300.00 donated. The annual morning Coffee Party will be held Wednesday, June 1, 2005 at the HUB Community Centre from 9 - 11 am. Come and enjoy coffee cake and muffins and good fellowship w i th your neighbours. Look for the unique display of Then and Now. Dons Warke, Kathleen LawTence and Marion Brown plan to attend the June 7, 8 & 9th AWI convention i n Cam-rose. Marion Brown w i l l be official delegate. The branch will participate in the handicraft competition and display. A jelly basket gift will be sent for the convention raffle Members will help fill up the FWIC Farm for District III with eight animals ^ Canadian Societe > Cancer canadienne ^ L ^ Society du cancer T^ V'ithout you, we could not do the work that we do together, strong
