Are you interested in
your Horoscope according
to the Chinese New Year?
Each year falls under the
sign of one of 12 different
animals and 2002 is the
Year of the Horse. Each
member chose their particular
year according to
the year in which they
were born and read their
predictions for this special
year. Financial risks,
health situations and love
life were all to be heeded.
M i l l i e Munro provided
this fun time to the
delight of the members.
In the absence of an
Education program, a lively
discussion took place
around the theme, " A new
innovative educational
concept." The members
noted the many ways that
education is delivered
especially with Cyber
School via the computer.
The past month was a
busy month for members
attending conventions.
Kathleen Lawrence, Doris
Warke and M a r i l y n Wattenbarger
attended the
annual Alberta Women's
Institutes meeting held in
Stony P l a i n , Alberta May
28 to 30, 2002. As official
delegate, Marilyn Wattenbarger
commented on the
excellent speakers, two of
which were E l a T u z i n s k a
and Jerod Zsombor. Ms.
Tuzinska works in the
Justice Ministry and
spoke on Immigration and
Citizenship and Mr. Zsombor
of the U. of A. Hospital
spoke on the urgent
need for skin and organs
for transplant. He
impressed upon the delegates
the need to inform
their families of their
wishes. It is not enough
to sign a donor card!
Phyllis Kosik was elected
as President Elect and
Marcella Bacso w i l l serve
as Resolutions Chairman.
Executive Secretary, Fern
K J l l i a n , and her brother
provided the entertainment
for Convention 2002
with the theme, Seeds of
Hope.
Marion and Roy Brown
have just returned from
New Brunswick where the
Federated Women's Institutes
of Canada held their
Board Meeting M a y 25 to
28, 2002 in Fredericton.
Marion showed pictures of
the stately N. B. homes,
City of St. John with its
Reversing Falls, Flower
Pot Rocks on the Bay of
Fundy and reported
visit to the New
Brunswick W. I. Home for
the aged i n Woodstock.
The annual Coffee Party
was enjoyed by 47 guests
who took time to enjoy
morning coffee with
muffins or coffee cake.
Winnie MacFadyen and
Sheila Page were lucky
door prize winners of
plants. Thanks to a l l the
ladies and the four men
who supported this fund
r a i s i n g event for the Pine
Lake Women's Institute.
Marion Brown reported
that purple and white
petunias have been planted
i n the " WI. Corner" to
signify the Year of the
Mountains. Lane Nicholson
has been added to the
roster of garden club participants
to make a total
of 24.
PLWI wall again sponsor
the Handcraft Section of
the Pine Lake Fair 2002 j
August 9, 10, 11. Presi- |
dent Doris Warke will purchase
and present the gift.
PLWI members have
