BRANCH AND COMMUNITY ACTIVITIES:
AWI Membership Dues: $ 15.00/ member ( PLWI members pay $ 5.00)
Fun time with one member in charge each month
Secret Sisters names drawn for remembering birthdays and anniversaries
Stocking Project continues with one dime for January, two for Feb., etc
Heart Fund Card Party - 61/ 2 tables of whist with $ 285.00 donations.
Road Side Clean Up - April 27 with WI members and families participating.
Cancer Canvas -$ 205.00
Children's Garden Club— Twenty- one of the twenty- four registered gardens were judged
by Doris Warke and Kathleen LawTence. At the Garden Parly on August 6t h , each participant was given a
placement ribbon and the Queen Elizabeth Anniversary 50 cent coin. The special project of creating a bookmark,
card, etc from pressed pansies grown from their gardens were recognized at the annual Halloween party.
W. I. Corner - The corner was again attractive with the usual flowers and the branch paying
$ 78.50 for the summer grass cutting by Les Snider The very dry summer challenged the members' project.
Coffee Party - Forty- seven attended the annual event with $ 306.10 realized. Winnie
MacFadyen and Sheila Page were lucky draw winners.
Fanners' Market - Sponsored by PLWI at the Pine Lake BiLo on Fridays from Junel4-
August30. 2002. 97 tables were rented for a branch profit of $ 485 00 from 80 volunteer hours.
Jelly Project - Kathleen Lawrence filled orders offering five varieties of jam or jelly.
Sales totalled $ 197.60.
Crossroads Ag. Fair - PLWI sponsored the handicraft section. A prize was presented to
Mary Ann Worthington
Five members and one visitor toured the Kananaskis Food Processors owned by a Dixie
Hodgson and run from her parents' farm in the Antler Hill District. Dixie and her staff produce Ksana stuffed
potatoes and other qualify food products
HUB Horse Race Nite - A home made willow basket made by Bruce Elliott and filled
with three jars of jelly was auctioned as the branch contribution.
Kathleen Lawrence knit five afghans from wool donated by Faye Nicholson. Faye
received the wool from a friend whose mother had been a member of the Stoney Creek W. I. in Ontario. The
afghans were donated to the Red Deer women's Emergency shelter
Shirley Schalin was remembered with a food gift Christmas basket.
Eight Christmas Mugs filled with " instant" ingredients were donated to the Red Deer
Homeless through the Mobile Outreach Program.
Christmas Family Supper - Attendance of over 45 for the annual turkey supper, visit from
Santa and ten games of Bingo. Lucky winners received " loonie" gifts.
Christmas greetings were sent to past members.
Branch History kept up to date.
Members volunteer hours were tabulated at 1738.
