Pine Lake Women's
Institute launched Ihc 2< MI4
Children's Garden Cluh
under ihe direction of
Agricultural Convener Faye
Nicholson. Seeds were
packaged ready for the 14
perspective participants on
payment of the $ 1.00 registration
fee. Preschool children
will grow three veggies
and one dwarf sunflower in a
plant put. planter or small
garden plot School age children
will grow a variety of
five veggies and sunflowers
in a garden plot of 12* x 12*.

followed hy a round up " garden
parly" where children
contribute to a slew with
ilerns trom their gardens
Awards are given to the garden
growers. The children
are also encouraged to enter
the Crossroads Agricultural
Fair in August
The branch entered twenty-
seven articles, twenty- one
of which placed first in the
annual Red Deer
Constituency Handicraft
Show and Tea. The handicraft
articles of which there
were a similar number as
20( 13 were displayed al the
Red Deer and District
Museum for a one week period.
Thanks to all the ladies
who contributed to the display
of their unique talents.
Plans were made lor ihe
annual Coffee Part) at ihe
HUB Community Centre.
Wednesday. June 2. 2004.
The public is invited lor 9- 11
am morning coffee, muffins
and coffee cake. Baking and
plants will be available lor
purchase. The branch will
also display Us handicrafts
and completed history.

will be delegate to the annual
Alberta Women's
Institutes Convention held
June 8, 9 and 10th 2004 al
the Red Deer Lodge. The
meeting will address [ he
theme. Families Around the
World. Resolutions on Elder
Abuse and the policy of
Moving Nurses will be voted
upon.
