Tine Lake ^ Women's Institute jApnf 20003 The forty- seventh anniversary of the Pine Lake Women's Institute was marked with a evening of celebration on Tuesday, April 8, 2003 Spouses and family members joined the pot luck supper after which branch Life Memberships were presented to Kathleen May Lawrence and Mildred ( Millie) Winifred Munro, long time dedicated members Kathleen Lawrence has been a member for thirty- six years, twenty five of which she had perfect attendance She has served m all educational convenerships at branch level and became Constituency Convener lor Red Deer Centre W 1 from 1973- 75. She has enlarged her circle of friends as she attends Constituency, District and Provincial level conventions She is known at branch lesel lor her perfect jams, jellies and marmalade Her ideas challenge the branch members to achieve greater goals for Home and I ' ounlfy Millie Munro has excelled in consistency and true commitment in her thirty- four years of membership with thirteen years of perfect anendance Millie has continuously served as an educational convener at branch level She has been the keeper of our Log Book and keeps a meticulous program book each year to which referrals are made for historical references Five members of Millie's family shared the evening in support of their mother and grandmother It was with respect and love that Kathleen and Millie were presented with branch Life Membership Pins and Certificates. After the traditional " birthday'' cake, Teressa Greening invited the visitors to participate in " Fun Time" Lach person was given a pencil and paper and asked to sketch a tree From the drawing, an analysis was made of the artist's personality from the position placing, size, detail, etc How well did we know ourselves'' President Dons Warke conducted a regular meeting after the departure of the guests five branch members had attended the Distncl 111 Workshop in Bashaw Marilyn Wattenbarger presented " Finances for Women", very timely for all age groups Kathleen Lawrence and Marion Brown attended the 50 Anniversary of the Knee Hill Valley Constituency on April 5, 2003 A revised criteria was adopted by the branch for the Sunshine Convener as well as an update to the price list for value of baking The branch made their " loonie per member" donation lo the Badger, Newfoundland fund Plans were put in place for the upcoming Handicraft Display and Tea April 26, 2003 and the Red Deer Constituency Conference May 10. 2003 The branch will hold its annual Coffee Party on Wednesday, May 28th from 9 00 - 11 00 am Come and see your neighbours over a friendly cup of coffee and muffins. Balmoral W. I. will hold their annual Geranium sale and Strawberry Tea May 15, 2003 The meeting closed with Health Tips which included: use Coming Ware or ceramic containers for heating food in the microwave instead of plastics which may put poisonous toxins into the food, drink plenty of water, an orange a day boost Vitamin C intake, cranberry juice and pure juices add lo your diet, no eating after your evening meal, Lakota gives relief to arthritis Due to the lateness of the meeting, the Health program will be carried over until ne\ t month Members were reminded lo complete their Watkm's order for next month Submitted by e.
