PINE L A K E WI. REVITALIZATION was the topic for discussion for the March Women's Institute branch meeting. Members were encouraged to answer honestly and frankly their thoughts on the needs of women in our changing world. The Federation Women's Institute of Canada will compile the results into a document that will be evaluated by the Executive Board in a meeting in July. Appropriate action can then be taken. As a Minute Minder for Agriculture, Marion Brown touched upon the concern of the recent outbreak of Foot and Mouth in Europe, the Free Trade of the Americas conference to be held in Quebec City and the implementations that could be forth coming on Canadian Industry. Lillie Clutton and Isabelle Beck were welcomed back after winter holidays in the South. The February Heart Fund Card party and donations resulted in a $ 388 donation to the Heart and Stroke Foundation. Doris Warke reported that seven ladies took advantage of the Place Mat Workshop held at the H U B March 3 learning session. Dons Warke volunteered her time and expertise as instructor One more session may be held to complete the projects. Marion Brown reported that both the branch and constituency histories were completed. A fourth book has been started on computer beginning 2000 to document the branch activities. These books will be on display at the upcoming District Conference. Final arrangements were made with the hosting of the District Three Conference at the H U B Community Centre. Pine Lake, March 15, 2001. Branch members will be responsible for registration and manning the ticket sale tables. The Pine Lake WI will sponsor a district children's garden club again this year. Watch for further plans to be finalised by the WI. committee. The Red Deer Centre Women's Institute Handicraft Display and Tea will be held at the Red Deer Museum on April 28, 2001. Final plans are to be made at a special meeting Monday, March 19, 2001. Lillie Clutton will pick up the Cancer Receipt books in preparation for the Apri drive. This is another com munity service carried out by the Pine Lake W. I. The branch also acts as a collection point for used Christmas cards and old calendars to be recycled at " Beaver Hall" in Michener Centre, Red Deer. The meeting was brought to a close by answering the roll call with helpful hints and a contest by Doris Warke who tested the thinking skill of the members who had to complete the sentence, " A real handy person can . . . " with as many words starting with the letter " h" as possible. Submitted by E.
