E V E N I N G S E S S I O N , J U L Y 25th
At seven o'clock the delegates and guests assembled in the dining r o om
for their annual banquet. Mrs. S m i t h acted as chairman. The guests of honor
were: Mrs. P e r r e n Baker, Mrs. M c C l u n g Jr., Mrs. Douglas, Brother Rogat
i on and Mrs. Rogers. Baby M c C l u n g presented the Public Speaking T r o p hy
to Miss Lenora Trace. Mrs. Baker presented the E m i l y Murphy cup to
D o r o t h y Chappel. The r e t i r i n g Supervisor, M r s . S m i t h , was presented with
a picture from the members of the A . W . I . G . C . with a suitable inscription. The
r e t i r i n g members of the executive were presented with beautiful bouquets. A
book was presented to the Jasper Club for having sold the greatest number
of club magazines, also a purse of $ 3.00 donated by director of District No. 2,
Miss Gertrude Flood. The remainder of the evening was spent in dancing.
S U N D A Y , J U L Y 26th
F r o m 9.30 to 10.30 Sunday morning Mrs. Backman conducted a short
service. The girls divided into several groups and attended the various
churches. A picnic supper and a motor drive completed the day.

A R T I C L E I . — N A ME
The name of this organization shall be The A l b e r t a Women's Institutes.
A R T I C L E I I . — M O T TO
The motto of The A l b e r t a Women's Institutes shall be " For Home and
Country."
A R T I C L E I I I . — P O L I CY
( a) The A l b e r t a Women's Institutes shall be the central Provincial
organization of all Institutes which have been or may hereafter be formed
under the Women's Institute A c t .
( b) The organization shall be non- partizan and non- sectarian, and no
Institute shall be operated in the interest of any party, sect or society, but
only for the general good and welfare.
( c) No society or o r g a n i z a t i o n for a special purpose shall b r i n g its
discussions or its subjects into any meeting of The A l b e r t a Women's Institutes,
except by the unanimous consent of the delegates present.
A R T I C L E I V — O B J E C TS
The objects of The A l b e r t a Women's Institutes shall be the improvement
of social conditions i n r u r a l and other communities by means of:
( a) The study of home economics ( including home nursing, household
science, sanitation, food values, s i c k r o om cookery, house furnishing, sewing
and other matters), child welfare, prevention of disease, local neighborhood
needs, industrial and social conditions.
( b) The establishment of Institutes as social a n d educational community
centres and the provision for a welcome to new settlers in the community,
