It gives me pleasure to present to you my fourth annual report as Supervisor of A l b e r t a Women's Institute Girls' Clubs. We have made some forward strides d u r i n g this period. W e have l i v e d through the reconstruction period which in itself was a problem. We too have learned to stand on our own feet, although s t i l l a little wobbly we have y o u t h and faith, t w o priceless assets. Our first big venture was the contest from which was picked the w i n n i ng team to represent us at the Canadian N a t i o n a l E x h i b i t i o n in Toronto. The team f r om W e t a s k i w i n brought great credit to themselves and to the P r o v i n ce of Alberta. These girls give much credit, to the success they are m a k i n g in life, to the experience they gained through this demonstration. One is teaching, one has finished her library course and has a position as librarian, the t h i r d has served the required time as apprentice in a drug store and w i l l come to the U n i v e r s i t y of A l b e r t a to get her degree in ' Pharmacy. The publication of the A . W . I . G . C . magazine after the 1929 and 1930 conventions has been one of our major undertakings. Only those who have been responsible for the editing and publication of such reports can realize the work that is involved. However, I am glad to report that we have succeeded in each case without going into debt. The Women's Institute G i r l s ' Clubs in D i s t r i c t No. 4 have held three reunions in connection w i t h the Women's Institute District Conference held in the south annually in M a r c h . This year the P r o v i n c i a l Executive of G i rl Guides sent Miss Jessie Church of Calgary to explain guiding. This courtesy was greatly appreciated. We have found these informal gatherings of great benefit. The W . I. D i s t r i c t Supervisors have been very helpful to me, in some cases c l e a r i n g up misunderstandings, getting i n f o r m a t i o n where letters are not answered, being instrumental in forming new clubs or reviewing old ones. M r s . Norton, Supervisor D i s t r i c t No. 4. attended our D i s t r i c t and P r o v i n c i al Convention, showing her interest in the work. This year we have undertaken to raise a scholarship of $ 100.00 to be awarded in Household Science. This is our first attempt to amalgamate , the large sums donated by individual clubs to w o r t h y causes. Only two dollars f r om each club w i l l make it possible to award a s c h o l a r s h i p large enough to pay the year's tuition of some outstanding student to continue their studies at the U n i v e r s i t y of Alberta. At this time last year I was t e l l i n g you of our planned Convention to be held at Mt. R o y a l College in C a l g a r y . Y o u have read the report of that convention in the Women's Institute annual report and you k n ow it was a success. We will hold the 11th annual convention this year in E d m o n t o n at St. Joseph's College, U n i v e r s i t y Campus, July 23rd, 24th, 25th. A n interesting
